CD Information:

The CD includes two compositions specially commissioned for the WDYB and two pieces with very special meanings:

‘Chalke Valley (W.D.Y.B)’ was commissioned in 1995 by the band  as an anniversary tribute to its founder Dennis Chalk on his 30th year as Musical Director.

‘Down Wilton Way’ was commissioned in 1998 from Derek Broadbent to mark the bands award of National Lottery Funding for new instruments. It portrays images of the countryside around the bands spiritual home of Broad Chalke.

‘Knights of Wessex’ was composed by Courtney Bosanko, who was a respected brass band conductor and composer. He was the inspiration behind Dennis Chalks founding of the Wilton and District Youth Band. Mrs Bosanko donated this march to Dennis Chalk and the WDYB in memory of her husband.

‘New York, New York’ is dedicated to the memory of all those whose lives were lost in New York on September 11, 2001
